Wanderings around Battery Point!

If you've ever been to Hobart chances are you may have wandered up the steps to Battery Point, and if you didn't you certainly missed out on something special! If I had to pick one spot to live for the rest of my life it would be here. The majority of houses are old colonial buildings with more sandstone and brick than you could imagine. There's something almost regal about this little town, maybe its the rows upon rows of roses that poke out over the fences or the stunning views of harbour. I think I spent a good forty-five minutes wandering the streets of battery point just snapping away at houses and the like only seeking refuge in a cute little coffee shop when the freezing winter winds kicked in.   The other thing that I love about Battery Point is that the main street is full of quaint little boutique shops full to the brim of handmade products and lot of local produce. If you ever find yourself with an afternoon spare in Hobart make sure you pop up to Battery Point for a visit, my favourites places to visit are;

Pollen Tea Room -
They have the most amazing selection of teas!!!
56 Hampden Road Battery Point

Jam Jar Lounge-
Some seriously good munchies!

Have you ever been to Battery Point? Did you fall as madly in love with it as I did?

Lets Catchup // Seventeenth July

Quick forewarning- this is going to be a long one, I think i've changed the date in the title about four times because I had so much to say. So grab a cup of tea and bikkie and get ready for a lotta rambling! -A

Wow, what a blur the last couple of weeks has been! First off big apologies for being away from the keyboard without so much as a peep of notice. I've been jetting all over the place, quite literally three plane trips in the space of eight days, and I truly did intend on taking snaps everyday whilst I was away but in all honesty I didn't even pick up my big girl camera until the last day and in return got a blank screen as it had decided to poop itself on me! I'm more annoyed that I luged that thing around the airport in my handbag than anything.

Having said that I did manage to take a few snaps, see I've got a new phone- i've finally ditched the iPhone craze and gone with some new fandangeled Sony Z2 thing. I hated it at first as i've always been an iPhone girl (And stubborn- I don't want to learn anything new!) but it's definitely grown on me and I can finally see why some people are so against apple. The best bit about this new phone is the camera; I'm not one to pay much attention to details but it's got a seriously cracking camera. The photos that I've been taking almost rival that of my trusty old nikon, not as good obviously but still for someone like me that can't always be bothered taking a huge camera around everywhere its great! My favourite little thingi is that you can get the phone to auto defocus the background of your photos. Hello dreamy instagram snaps, I can't get enough!

Even if my camera didn't crap itself, which incidentally it didn't actually much to my embarrassment when I took it into the camera shop and the guy got it to work in precisely 2.453 seconds, most of my time in Melbourne was spent catching up with family and old friends who I hadn't seen in yonks and didn't really feel comfortable saying "Just hold it a sec old second cousin twice removed Judy, you can't eat your delicious looking flan just yet because I have to quickly snap twenty photos of it from all different angles and do some almost yoga like moves just to get the perfect shot". Gosh, your gonna need a big breath in after that sentence.

So after Melbourne I was back in Sydney for about 48 hours before I hopped on another plane to visit more family down in Tassie. Now if you've been around for a while you'll know that I'm originally from Tassie so it spun me out a little bit landing back at our 'international' airport; it was about -3 degrees, I hadn't slept the night before because I knew that I had to be up at 2.30 anyway to get the first train to the airport and in all honestly I think the ciders I was still drinking at 2am were still wearing off! But boy am I glad to be back, living in such a suburban area like Sydney it's so easy to get into the swing of city life so it's been so relaxing having no plans at all and just being able to sit around and do things that I haven't for the last few hectic months. I think one of the things that I've missed the most during this semester is that I haven't been reading enough books. I started one a few months ago that I was really enjoying but I just couldn't find enough time to finish it. I'm probably a quarter of the way through The Luminaries by Elanor Catton right now, a friend of my mums who is a high school English teacher recommended it to me and i'm enjoying it but not fully absorbed into it like some books can get you. Have any of you lovelies read it? and does it get better the further you get in? I guess i'm just going to have to read and see hey. Okay I'm cutting it there because I could go on all day but I'm sure you've got much better things to do than hear me ramble about the rest of my holidays; I'll save that for another post! I'll add some snaps from the last few weeks so that your brain doesn't explode from the sheer amount of words in this post, i think most of them will be from Tassie so enjoy the beauty that is this little state!

lots of love,
