All you need is a 'Light Touch'

I was going through my makeup collection this morning and tucked under some old palettes was this beauty. MAC's Light Touch is a pressed pigment that packs some serious glittery punch! I really don't use this shadow as much as I should, it's probably not something that you would wear during the day if your just running errands or popping out for lunch with friends but that make's it perfect for nights out! It has a stunning rose-gold champagney tint to it but once it gets to your lids it doesn't really transfer that colour per say it kinda just takes on whatever shade you have on already and enhances that to another level of glittery-ness and will add some serious sparkle to any look! It can be used dry or damp which is another brilliant thing, i've always stuck to using it dry- there's something about using a damp brush just doesn't seem right. I think i'll just have to suck it up and give it a try. The only downfall of Light Touch is the fallout; which is completely understandable given that it is a pressed pigment and not your average shadow. So just make sure you have a tissue ready to catch the fall out or start with your eyes and finish with base so you don't end up with glitter down your face. I've seen some other lovely bloggers use this as a highlighter; I don't think i'm quite that brave! The only other thing is that I found this to be quite similar to Honey Lust in the glitter-y department, just a little less loose. If I had to choose one or the other I think I would have to go with Honey Lust for practicality reasons- it fits into a palette and you don't have to go digging around for it each time you use it. But having said that if you go with Light Touch you get double the amount of product for only a few dollars more! Such a hard choice!!

Have you tried any of MAC's pressed pigments? Did they live up to your expectations??

Weekly Catchup // Twenty Second June.

Hey Guys!! Wow, it seems like way to long since i've sat behind the computer for something that doesn't involve studying. If your a uni student i'm sure you can feel my pain, the last two weeks have been a blur of last minute cramming for chemistry exams and memorising more formulas than I'd care to remember. At one point there I thought that my head may explode from the sheer amount of papers I had floating around my house but they are finally over, thank heavens! {Someone should really rename the multiple choice exams- multiple guess!!!} I've spent the entire weekend celebrating by not leaving my bed, eating far to much chocolate and having a major harry potter movie marathon. Is it a little sad that a twenty year old still has a major obsession with good ole' HP ? Maybe just a little. So with the Autumn semester done and dusted I won't be thinking about any uni work until August, which leaves me plenty of time for little adventures and trips around lovely Australia. I'm off to Melbourne in a few days to visit family and explore the city a little more; I was actually born in Victoria {A fact I will blurt out anytime someone informs me of my missing second head!}  so i've always wanted to spend more time in the beautiful city but the trips always seem to be short-lived. But this time i'm spending an entire week down there so i've got plenty of time to spend checking out the sights :) I'll be taking lots of snaps while i'm away so keep an eye out for some melbourne-ite lifestyle posts!

Lots of love,

My Must have Sukin Moisturisers!

Sukin was my first ever brand of 'proper' moisturiser. And by proper I mean it wasn't some overly perfumed pink bottle that you got in a cheap gift basket. Not dissing gift baskets obviously! I still remember the first time that I ever tried Sukin. It was in this tiny little hippy town called Maleny in the hills of queensland. I was about 14 and going through a major Hippy stage. {Well as hippy as a fourteen year old could get. I wore billow pants, showered once a week, only ate lentils and was never seen without a head wrap} You will be glad to know that I've since dropped a few of those habits; although I do occasionally wear billow pants and head wraps for old times sakes. One thing that has stuck through those memorable times is good ole' Sukin. Although the formula's have changed and its become a more well known brand my love for it has not disappeared; in fact it has grown as the brand itself has grown. The entire range is natural, paraben free, SLS free, contains no animal derivatives and has no synthetic fragrances. Just to name a few!

The product that got me hooked on Sukin in the beginning was their Facial Moisturiser. It is utterly nourishing. I've come across moisturisers similar but none will ever compare to the amount of moisture that this can give you. I think it comes down to all the natural ingredients that is packed into it; think Aloe Vera, Horsetail{It's a herb guys!!},  Nettle and Burdock. And their just the ones that add the soothing punch. For your healthy glowing skin there's Rose Hip oil, Wheat germ, Jojoba and avocado oil. Wowzers.  This is my morning moisturiser as it's light enough to use before applying my makeup and for the past few weeks I've been pairing it with the Antioxident Eye Serum. The Eye Serum is a slightly thicker version of the Facial Moisturiser but it contains Cucumber to sooth the eyes and also evening primrose to help improve the skins elasticity. It doesn't smell quite as good as the Facial Moisturiser but it certainly does leave my skin feeling extra smooth.

Then for my nightly moisturisers i've entrusted the help of a Sukin's Rose Hip Day Cream, I prefer to use it at night as it's quite thick and sits on the skin for a while before soaking in properly. I mix this with a Organic Rose Hip oil and it does wonders. Not only for helping keep my skin nourished but the rose hip oil has really been keeping my acne at bay. Now I'm not gonna lie, the rose hip oil does't smell pretty, actually it reminds me of cleaning out the deep fryer at my old work and I have to hold my nose when I smear it onto my face but it is amazing. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger ey'. The Hydrating day cream is a marriage made in heaven, a concoction of rose hip oil and pomegranate to help with dry skin {Perfect for us ladies who are just coming into winter, damn you guys in the northern hemisphere getting summer already!} and theres also Kakadu plum, which is a native to Australia but has crazy high levels of vitamin C that leaves the skin looking radiant as can be!

And they are all of the moisturisers that I use. {On my face anyway!} When you find something you love you stick to it right?! Have you guys ever used Sukin before?

Maybelleine Master Precise Liquid Liner

Oh what I would give to be able to do eyeliner in one flick. But I can't. I am to put it quite frankly crap. If I do wear eyeliner it never matches up, one flick is always higher than the other or my left eye is more of a cat's eye whereas my right is more winged. I seriously cannot win! I've since given up on caring wether they are exactly the same; as long as they look semi match I figure most people can't tell. I've gotta say since getting my hands on Maybelline's Master Precise liquid liner my little black flick of confidence has improved a bazillion percent. This stuff in un-budgable; it really doesn't move an inch onces its set. I can put this on first thing in the morning and guarantee that it'll still be sitting in the same spot when I get home 12 hours later. The other thing that I love about this liquid liner is how tapered the tip is. The end is just fine enough and it really helps to create the perfect flick. The tip is also angled just right so that you can run it along your lash line in one go without it getting to thick in all the wrong places. So if your a beginner at liquid liner or you just have a little trouble like me, this is definitely for you!

Alright here's a terrible shot of me trying to show how amazing this liner is. My selfie skills are embarrassing to say the least-and trying to get my eye to the perfect angle was down right impossible. So we're settling for this. Apologies if i've scared your children!

Weekly Catchup // Eighth June

The weather this week has been downright awful; so cold and rainy that my electric blanket has pretty much been permanently switched on. I've definitely forgotten how cold winter can get and as much as I love hearing the pitter patter of rain on the roof as I fall asleep I don't want it to be pouring when I wake up in the morning. Wading through the mud to get to my car isn't my idea of a perfect morning but who am I to complain it's the best excuse to wear my gumboots around and not look like an idiot! But when it really comes down to it all this rain couldn't have come at a better time, I'm deep into studying procrastinating for my exams, which are in less than a week's time! Why is it that whenever studying comes into the picture there is always so many more important things that need to be done. My room is the tidiest its ever been and the kitchen is spotless. What is life!

Soo I've been bribing myself to study with the incentive of shopping in my breaks and oh, asos did you really have to throw out a sale right in the middle of my study week? So far i've made two consecutive orders and spent more money than i'm ashamed to admit. In justification though I only have one pair of surviving flats that i've been wearing almost daily so it was probably time for one five new pairs of shoes. My moneys on this pair of mint beauties, and these heeled sandals but I also chucked a pair of boots in for good measure. I've had my eye on these brow biker boots for months but never seemed to get around to adding them to my cart. I think i'm going to have to end up sending a few bits and pieces back so I can pay my phone bill but fingers crossed the rest end up in my closet!

{pinched from this website

My Pintrest has also been getting a major work out over the last week. I'm still not a pro-pinner but i'm slowly getting the hang of how it all works ha! I've become increasingly obsessed with having quotes everywhere and I love this one! I think theres a big stigma with exams that you have to spend twelve hours a day at your desk and stress your pretty little head off. There is no way that that's happening in my house; the way I see it is that theres no point in making yourself sick with worry over something that's so small in the big scale of things. By all means spend the time studying so that you do well but you also have to balance the time spent behind the desk. A good balance for me is ever couple of hours I grab a big cup of tea, put some lana del ray on and cosy up on the couch for a few chapters The Great Gatsby {The book is far better than the movie!}. You'll feel so much better afterwards if you do :)

So that was my week, I've spent far to much time sitting in front of the computer but in two weeks I'll be uni free for a few weeks. I'm visiting my grandparents in Melbourne for a week or so and then going back home for a few weeks so i'm counting down the days till then!

Tasmania In May...

When I was in Tassie for easter my Mumma, Nanna and I took a trip to the other end of the island for a quick girls weekend. The trip up was so beautiful that we stopped every half an hour or so just to take some photos. We also stopped off at a couple of country towns for coffee breaks of course I had to snap some photos! It was such a beautiful autumn afternoon, the leaves were falling from the trees, the sun was shining and there was definitely that crisp breeze that kept us hiding in the back of cafes with a big pot of tea to keep us warm. I don't want to ramble too much about how beautiful Tassie is, i'm just going to hope the pictures do the talking!

lots of love,

Polenta, Basil and Tomato Tarts.

These tarts are seriously delicious! Once you have one you'll be craving them all the time; i'm actually eating one as I write this ;) I think some people get scared off baking tarts by having to make their own pastry, which can sometimes be hard, but this polenta pastry is super easy. And theres no rolling out involved- you just have to push it into the tins!

Start by roasting a punnet of cherry tomatoes; cut them in half and sprinkle some salt and thyme over the top! Pop them in the oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes until they have caramelised on the bottom.

To make the pastry combine 1/2 cup of plain flour, 1 cup of polenta, 120g of butter and 1/2 cup of warm water in a food processor and pulse until it comes together. When it's become a dough take it out of the processor and press into six little pre-greased tins. Turn the oven down to 170 degrees and pop your tarts into the oven. Leave them to bake for 25 minutes, the tarts won't become to brown but you'll know that they are ready when the sides start to get hard.

While the tart shells are baking combine 250g cream cheese and 3 eggs in the food processor. Whizz them together until they become smooth. Once its come together transfer it to a clean bowl and fold though 1/2 cup of grated parmesan and 1 bunch of roughly chopped basil. Once its all combined and your pastry is ready fill the tart shells 3/4 of the way up and pop your roasted tomatoes on top. Bake for 25 minutes or until your egg mix is set!

This is the perfect sunday afternoon brunch that is so easy and quick to make, they taste best fresh from the oven but if you make it the day before it still tastes great warmed up the next day! You'll be sure to impress your friends with your cooking skills if you whip this up.
