A few months ago I was a little naughty and got sucked into Illamasquas A-MA-ZING sale. Five pounds for a loose pigment eyeshadow and Seven for their foundation! As much as I wanted to buy everything I had to pull a few bits and bobs out of my order. I am one of the WORST people when it comes to sales. {Oh yes I shall definitely wear that metalic red eyeshadow; No Amy you wont, it will make you look stupid just leave it. But its only Five quid, DO YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE PINKEYE!! } It is a constant battle between my addiction to sale products and common sense. I finally narrowed it down to three products, a pure pigment, an Illuminator and their light liquid foundation.
The pure pigment is pure bliss {Yep! Corny I know} This little pot of happiness is in the shade Alluvium. Its a gorgeous royal blue shade with enough glitter so put the nights sky to shame! {Corny again, Sorry!!} I chose this out specifically for smokey-eye use.I’m much more of a neutrals gal so this is wayyy out of my comfort zone, but I had a little play with it the other day and really think I could get used to a darker look. Maybe just not to often!!
Then we have the Light Liquid foundation. I got this in the lightest shade possible, LF 210. I’d never normally go so light but I wanted something that is a few shades lighter than my normal foundation so that it can be blended around my jawline so that I don’t get that awful foundation line. The consistency is only a tiny bit thicker than my Chanel Vitaluminere so it blends together effortlessly to give a natural look. As an all over foundation it has a quite light coverage but is can easily be built up to give you a more flawless finish. It’s probably not my go-to foundation but it certainly does the trick!
And finally theres the Illuminator. I got this bad guy on a whim purely because its gold and as we all know I’m a major sucker for anything gold! This definitely doesn’t disappoint with the formula and consistency but I do question its use as a highlighter. Maybe it works if your a bronzed up greek goddess but for pale ole‘ me it looks plain stupid, like I’ve been smacked in the face with a shimmery powder-poof. Thats why I’ve taken to using it as an eyeliner or blended out as a statement shadow. Even though it obviously wasn’t designer for that it works pretty well and I’d hate for this precious gold tube to get forgotten at the back of a drawer somewhere!
So thats that. Illamasqua is fast becoming a favourite brand of mine, not quite up there with Estee Lauder but its getting pretty close. I’m going to have to find some serious willpower not to get to crazy when I’m in Sydney!! Wish me luck :)

"like I’ve been smacked in the face with a shimmery powder-poof" buahahahah :D That was perfect!
ReplyDeleteInteresting post - to be honest, I haven't hear of the brand before, nor do I own any of their products. But the price range seem okay and the quality also. Thanks!

HAHA That was the seriously my first thought after I'd applied it!
DeleteIf you ever get the chance I'd definitely recommend trying it out, some of their products are pretty extreme! But there's a lot of gems in there aswell :)
