Homemade Iced Coffee!

Caffeine makes the world go round or at least  it does in my little world! It's the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do at night. {I should add that it's tea at night not coffee! I'm not that crazy I swear} I'm an addict and not afraid to admit it, but during the summer months the last thing anybody wants is to be sipping on a steaming hot drink when its 30 degrees out. SO thats where iced coffee has come out to play! It's delicious and tastes nothing like those god awful cold cups sitting around on your old mans desk with the gross milk skin and rings around the top!

You can change this recipe up as much as you like, add some hazelnut syrup, peppermint essence or if your feeling naughty try some condensed milk! {It's so addictive, like a thick glass of coffee-ey goodness}

Your going to start off with 150g of coffee beans. I've gone with a single origin, organic blend but go with whatever tickles your fancy. If you don't have a grinder at home no problem, just buy your coffee pre-ground!

Once it's all ground up nice and fine, mix it in with two litres of water. Make sure its all combined then let it sit overnight on the bench.

After it's been soaking for long enough filter it through a cheesecloth or coffee filter if you've go one. You can strain it twice if you really want to but I think once is enough! Put it in a jug and keep it in the fridge, it should last about a week!

My favourite way to serve iced coffee is on ice with milk and a dash of sugar! But it's great just over ice as well! Super refreshing on those stinking hot days. And if you really like your coffee turn some of the mix into ice cubes so you don't get that watery mix at the bottom!
