RICHMOND

A smile takes but a moment, but the memory of it lasts forever.

A couple of Sunday's ago I took my brother and Cousin down to Richmond to make the most of the last of our summer rays. Richmond is a gorgeous old convict town just out of Hobart. Its not just full of some amazing history but is  absolutely picturesque!

I hadn't been down to Richmond since my 16th Birthday {try mixing a raining day, screaming children and an awful hangover - not the best day} So it was great to find out they had opened a hire-a-boat&bike business!

We decided to pass on the bikes, but the idea of spending the afternoon rowing up the river sounded sooo perfect! That was until we got tangled in the reeds, hit the bottom of the river going under the bridge and almost got tipped out while swapping seats! It was a hilarious experience, I think we spent more time laughing than actually rowing!

Richmond is full of amazing brick house's that one would only hope to live in. It was originally a convict town and you can still visit the jail there, you never know - maybe one of your relatives is on their convict list like my great-great times about 15 Aunt who was sent here, for I think stealing a loaf of bread or refusing to get married. I forget the story but I'm almost glad she brought our family down here!

Who can resist giant lollipops and rows and rows of jars of lollies!
You'd be embarrassed to find out how much we spent in there !!
Home made Turkish delight anyone ??

Family days together are so special and I'm so blessed to have such and amazing family!  What's your favourite way to spend time with your family?

If you ever find yourself in Richmond, I definitely suggest that you spend some time on the river! The man who served us was amazing and so helpful!
